Dual Wielding Shaman Build

#1 Post by Roderick » Thu Aug 08, 2019 5:23 am

Open to suggestion on this. Please provide feedback if possible.
Elemental Shaman
[-------------------------------------------------]
Suggested Guild: University or Wild Enclave
[-------------------------------------------------]
Evocation 20
Naturalism 17
Dual Weapons 20
Magical Dexterity 13
Acrobatics 17
Mysticism 13
[-------------------------------------------------]
Total
[100]
[-------------------------------------------------]
Evocation - This is largely a thematic choice. Imbue weapon is the big one here, combined with summoning elementals and elemental spells.

Naturalism - Again for thematics. Gives some cool spells tied to elemental affinity. Makes the build more group friendly and provides damage mitigation with healing spells, bark skin, cyclone.

Dual Weapons - Main damage source. Combined with Imbue Weapon.

Magical Dexterity - Aiming for Arcane Power, Conjure Gem, Energy Shield, and the biggest one with Attunement.

Acrobatics - Pure Damage Mitigation

Mysticism - Supreme Psyche

This build is a framework for a potential shaman type character I'm looking at. Wild Enclave would thematically fit best for this build, however, an argument can also be made for the Academy, and the Academy's abilities would work better with it overall.

The concept is a combatant wielding a pair of weapons imbued with elemental power in a whirlwind of fury. Much of the survivability is built into using energy shield and acrobatics. Equipment is focused on building for mana, mana, and more mana to take advantage of Mysticism and Shields, fulfilling a thematic role of the elements defending the user.

Race choice determines a few things here:

The most likely choice would be Elf. Spell Resistance has synergy with some skills, Arcane Ancestry synergizes with the reliance on mana.

Humans are, oddly enough, another strong contender purely because of the additional ranks which could be dropped into Coercion for Leadership and Commanding Presence. - This would largely be an Enclave build with this racial choice.

Half-Orcs are a personal choice. Charge by itself from the racial is a welcome addition to the melee aspect of the build with imbued weapons, paired with berserk and added survivability from toughness.

----Edited to remove info about elven education per clarifying info learned.

Elven Education adds ranks to skills but the bonus ranks don't unlock abilities.
You may know this, but maybe others don't.

I actually didn't know that. That'll help quite a bit to know.
